From the sea off Combesgate beach

Combesgate beach is a pretty secluded beach located at the far right-end side of Woolacombe offering some attractive rock pools - ideal for children. It is the first true sandy beach as you walk down from Mortehoe to Woolacombe along the coastal road.

Combesgate is one of the Marine Conservation Society recommended beaches,. Flat golden sands, rocks to either side, a gentle waterfall to the rear, hidden in a little cut out.

The best time to visit is between low and mid-tide, when activities can include swimming, surfing, building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools. Be aware that access to the beach itself is via a number of steep, but well maintained, steps. Combesgate is probably not be the best option for families with push chairs or those with mobility in mind.

Superb friendly site

We never stay at the same place twice - until we found Warcombe Farm Camping Park.

Four of us, two being small children, arrived a week before the summer rush period. We immediately fell in love with the site, and were placed close to the children's play area, which was excellent as we could keep an eye on our children whilst we had a glass of wine in the evening.

There is a lake at the bottom of our camping field but this is really well managed and we didn't once have any concerns for our small children.

The site is really well kept with a fantastic shower block. We never once queued for a shower, the water was always piping hot, and the block looked as if it had been cleaned just before we went in.

The staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We loved the views but were limited by the typical British weather. Saying that, the area is lovely with lots to do in a short distance from the site.

We loved this site and returned the following year and had another lovely holiday.

A real gem of a site.

Two weeks wasn't long enough!

We have just returned from two weeks at this incredible camp site. It is probably easy to start the review at the start of our holiday. We arrived and checked in at the reception where we were met by very friendly organised and knowledgeable staff who checked us in efficiently and speedily. We were then directed to Dave (really nice bloke) who guided us to our pitch and gave us a run down of the site.

The pitch was, as all the pitches are a great size and incredibly well kept and maintained. The toilet blocks are immaculate and have brilliant family rooms available. There are great little touches in the shower block that make life that little bit easier. Plenty of shelves for all your clothes and toiletries as well as a stool and showers set just at the right temperature.

On most nights there is different high quality food available on site ranging from stone baked pizzas to fish and chips and a sea food van. We found this food excellent and good value for money.

There is a shop on site that sells delicious fresh bread and pastries each morning and also is well stocked and has everything that you need at reasonable prices.

There are lots of nice touches throughout the site that have clearly been well thought out. These range from hand sanitizer at the chemical disposal to a herb garden that you can help yourself to.

All the staff are incredibly friendly and are all really keen to help and offer advice on the area.

The play ground and the fishing lake are excellent as is a nice stroll through the dog walking area towards Mortehoe.

We are planning to go back again next year and can not wait.

Positives: everything about the site.

Negatives: 2 weeks wasn't long enough.

Many thanks Christine and all the team for a brilliant holiday on your beautiful site.
