I really don't know where to begin and I feel I may bore you with superlatives. Having stayed at some very nice places I can confirm this is my number 1. On arrival we were shown to our pitch which we had chosen when we booked. We booked 110 backing on to the lake. Although no direct sea view, it was close to the toilets and had a far view of the park, meaning that my 8 and 10 year old had a little independence to go by themselves. I would say the better sea view ones were up on the bank, but they were also a bit exposed if you get a bit of wind.
The toilets were immaculate at all times of the day. The showers were huge and you could shower easily with children. There is a shelving unit to keep thing up dry and separate and even a bin and stool.
The wash up was also spotless and also contained a washing machine area as well as a mini tourist information with leaflets and recommendations and event Information.
The site itself was also immaculate I didn't see any mess at all... Only in my tent!
The dog walking area (we went with my sister who has dogs) was so well maintained. It was like a woodland walk abundant with nature and wildlife. I'd happily go for a walk around even without dogs. The site is very strict about picking up poo so little ones need not fear of hiking around and getting poo on their shoes.
During half term they actually had children's outdoor events in a secret part of the wood. These were bookable and payable in advance. Some parents there, some without and things included fire lighting, den building, nature picture making. We didn't have time, but it will be a must for our August trip.
The site is secure using PIN numbers for barriers in and out and there is always staff around.
They have a help yourself herb garden and a take away serving different for every night apart from Thursday. Fresh croissants are available in the morning and they are huge!
My final note would be the staff. I can honestly say they are the nicest, friendliest, helpfulist people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting at a camp site. They clearly enjoy their work and take pride and joy in maintaining the campsite to the superb level that it is at. The staff are a credit to the site.
Thank you Warcombe for the wonderful half term holiday we had we will be back. I'm your new number one fan!
Stayed for five beautiful days over the Easter holidays. We decided to have a lazy tea and ate from the on site takeaway on our first night, the only words that I can say is yuk.
The site is absolutely lovely beautifully maintained, very clean and like everyone has already mentioned the shower/toilets are stunning. My only complaint would be that both toilet blocks are very close to the premier and caravan pitches, which mostly already have toilet facilities.
If you have young children I would strongly recommend you request a pitch near the toilets, as there can be quite a distance to walk if you're at the far end of the camping area.
Just outside the site about five min drive there is a pub/restaurant called 'Cook island', I would highly recommend especially the all you can eat breakfast buffet and the carvery is stunning. Enjoy.
