Our first point of contact with Warcombe Farm was my telephone enquiry to make a booking. It was handled efficiently and instantly gave a feeling of confidence that this was going to be a good place to stay.
On arrival at reception we where made welcome and swiftly dealt with by the ladies in reception then passed over to one of the campsite wardens who we followed in his buggy to our pitch. The pitches are well cared for with enough space to make it feel your own. My wife and I are in our mid 50s and are basic campers in a small tent so we had ample room. We hired a picnic table which was reasonably priced and made cooking and preparing food a lot easier.
The site itself is very well maintained. The toilet blocks are immaculate and roomy. We never waited for a shower.
There is a small fishing lake in the middle of the site which is well fenced and safe. It is also full of fish so catching isn't difficult making ideal for beginners looking to learn.
Well behaved dogs are allowed. We are not dog lovers but I realise that people are and not once did we see any animals running around off the leash and also we never encountered any dog mess. At the far end of the site there is a woodland walk and dog walk. Again immaculately kept and again mess free with lots of dog waste bins provided.
The small camp shop was well stocked and reasonably priced for essential needs. We didn't use the laundry or take away service but the menu looked decent and again fairly priced. There isn't much more I can say here. The staff on-site where extremely polite, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make our stay a lovely experience.
At evening the noise levels where low and the sound of children having fun or people having a BBQ and chatting and laughing created a very pleasant atmosphere with noise levels dropping after around 11pm.
I think it is fair to say if you want a rowdy camp club, swimming pool, dogs running round and lots of screaming and shouting then this isn't for you. If you want a relaxing peaceful pleasant holiday the book here. The only minor thing I would add is that it might be worth asking for a pitch near the toilet block as some are a little bit of a walk maybe up to 200m max but as I say that is a very minor thing.
Also bear in mind that although the beaches are walkable there are no pavements and it is quite steep. There are buses which the staff will give you timetables.
Thank you for a lovely holiday we will recommend and would come back.
Fantastic stay at this great campsite, very friendly and extremely helpful staff. It was our first time with a caravan and everyone was very helpful. Good sized pitches, great play area for the kids, fishing lake and a wonderful woodland walk for the dog. All the facilities were always very clean.
Stayed for 11 nights and had a great holiday, will definitely stay again next year and would highly recommend it!
Warcombe Farm Camping Park:
We are so very pleased that all of the family had a lovely stay with us (including the dog). All our staff try very hard to be helpful and offer advice that they may have gained over the years. We look forward to seeing all your family again.
Camping near Mortehoe
Excellent facilities - hot water, clean and spacious shower block. Each shower cubicle well designed and roomy with shelves to keep clothes dry. Camp Shop stocking essentials, take-away food available. Flat pitches, well kept and plenty of dividing shrubs and trees. Fishing lake.
Only downside is that it is quite a long walk to village of Mortehoe. You can go via footpaths which is slightly longer, otherwise walk includes busy narrow road with no pavement.
Warcombe Farm Camping Park:
Tina as you have pointed out one of the routes to Mortehoe is by using the narrow road, but we do sell a local map for £2.00 that shows a variety of alternative beautiful routes. We do take great pride in the standard of our facilities and it is always very pleasing when we receive excellent feedback. Thank you.
Another great trip
If you have new to camping or not, I would recommend visiting this campsite. Excellent toilet/shower facilities, good variety of pitch sizes and lovely adjoining field for dog walking.
We have been here many times, wouldn't hesitate to recommend. No bar/ clubhouse which is a bonus as far as we are concerned and children well supervised by parents. There are some family shower rooms which are great if you have little ones and a small play area.
How many shower blocks have underfloor heating? Wow. Very well run site, with large pitches, some overlooking the sea. We overlooked the duck pond. Nice walks from the site around the dog walking area and down to Lee. We also walked to Woolacombe but the climb back is tough.
Warcombe Farm Camping Park:
The walk back from Woolacombe can be a little tough but we do have a bus stop outside the main entrance and the bus runs frequently to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. We do hope that you visit us again.
Our second visit to this campsite and it has not failed to deliver yet again - I am not a natural camper at all !! but admit you cannot fault the constant upkeep of the toilet/shower facilities here, staff are very helpful and friendly from booking to pitching.
The campsite itself is very well situated and will appeal to various needs, some private pitches some in the middle of it all. Good different themed food served most evenings, small shop serving gorgeous pastries each morning.
If you are looking for a campsite where you need not worry what you are going to get then this is it. Warcombe Farm Camping Park, thank you, you certainly make this unseasoned campers experience far better !! :)
A week in Warcombe
We have just had the pleasure of staying at this campsite for the last week, ideally situated for the North Devon surf beaches but without the crowding of Woolacombe or Croyde. The site is slightly more expensive than we are used to paying but it is well worth it for a pre allocated, flat, well drained pitch, a very clean toilet and shower block with ample amounts of properly hot water (something not always found on sites).
There is a small-but well stocked shop which offers lovely pastries in the morning and the breakfast baguettes in the food shack were very welcome. This is very much a family site but is still quiet enough after dark, there is a decent play park and a very nice walk through the camps own forest reserve down to Lee Bay for rock pooling. Overall highly recommended.
Lovely campsite in a fairly remote location with views of the sea if you are located at the back of the site. Close to Woolacombe and Mortehoe but driving distance if you have young children.
A couple of shower blocks which are a long way from the far end of the site where we stayed but the sea views make up for it.
Having said that, there are loads of showers (so you never have to queue), a good campsite shop that sells pastries in the morning, a children's play ground (with zip wire) and a fishing lake.
Would definitely return
Our recent stay
This campsite is fantastic, large pitches, plenty of room between each pitch, staff very friendly and helpful. We had an accident with our car the day before we were to come home and they were willing to let us leave the car there for it be recovered, you can't ask for better than that! And we were very grateful for their help.
The camping site is very clean, fishing lake, children's play area, camp shop, take away cafe, nothing is too much trouble!
Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!
Lovely campsite tucked away in the Devonshire countryside. Mortehoe is a 30 min walk along unpaved roads with no street lighting, which made for a tricky evening walk, but taxis easily available.
Lovely pubs in Mortehoe, with good food at reasonable prices. Nearby Lynton and Lynmouth are a revelation. The cliff railway worth a ride and some lovely little shops, just ripe for a potter. Cream teas are widely available and we took advantage as often as we could.
Stunning coastline and some lovely beaches. The only issue we had with the campsite was that not all pitches were level. However, the fact that fresh pastries were delivered every morning and Captain Hooks takeaway was available for lovely bacon baguettes made up for this.
There us a fantastic dog walking area, and as rightly bragged about on the camp website, the amenities are excellent. Warm, clean and tidy building. Spacious, fabulous showers. We would definitely visit again.
Love this campsite! :)
This was our first visit and were late booking for the bank holiday weekend, which meant they were fully booked, but they were amazing to contact us to let us know they had a cancellation (yay for us!)
Well I have to say this is the most organised and best campsite we have ever visited! We aren't into big campsites and like a bit of piece and quiet so it was perfect for us. We were lucky enough to have a pitch with a sea view and the pitch size was ample for us, they are really good and discuss what pitch size is best for you as they have all different shapes and sizes.
The facilities, toilets and washing blocks were fabulous! So clean and with heated floors feel very luxurious, I actually looked forward to a camp site shower!!
They accommodate dogs really well and the woodland field is such an added bonus. They even give your dog a little goodie bag on arrival :)
We had fresh croissants (get there early!) from the on site shop for breakfast and hired a wooden bench which they brought over to our tent straight away.
Looking forward to booking our next trip :) :)
Super one night stop over!
We stayed here sadly just for one night as we had a wedding nearby, but we will definitely be returning. We are local but love to make the most of our beautiful county instead of paying taxi fares! The staff from point of booking to leaving were incredibly helpful, super friendly and couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable.
The pitch was perfect and the facilities great. Thank you so much, we look forward to seeing you again! (The wedding was amazing too!)
Sadly we only got to stay here one night but what a great campsite. The staff are really friendly and chatty, and make you feel really welcome. The pitches are really spacious and the facilities excellent. The roads on site have plenty of room for manoeuvring. The breakfast baps are yummy! We will definitely be returning.
Lovely quiet campsite
My family and I have stayed here 3 times this year on varying grass pitches with our caravan. The site is large and offers many choices of pitch type.
There is a small camp shop, which sell all the essentials and a great little café open all day serving breakfast and evening meal.
The pitches are all well maintained and have electric hook ups, fresh water and drainage
the staff are super friendly and helpful with any query or problem.
No question that we shall return next year.
We'll stay here again
Stayed here for the bank holiday week and were greeted by friendly staff on arrival. The campsite was full when we arrived (it emptied out through the week) but at no point did we feel crowded.
Part of the site has been terraced and we had a lovely large pitch with its own water tap and a view of the fishing lake.
We've been camping for a long time and can genuinely say that the facilities (shower blocks and washing up areas) are above average and kept clean, but they can get very busy as the site is quite big.
The shop is small but has all the essentials and in the morning there are fresh cakes available. There is also a takeaway van that serves breakfasts, afternoon tea and a variety of meals in the evening, although we didn't try this out so can't comment on the quality.
There is a barrier which you get an access code for and as a result it feels safe and secure, especially as there are always staff around the site.
The site is in a good location for exploring the North Devon area and within easy reach of both Woolacombe and Ilfracombe.
In our opinion it's an ideal place to stay if you don't like the big corporate sites.
PS watch out for the toads!
